opportunity to further hone the skills needed for high-impact feedback
to leaders. Increases the coach's ability to recognize and act
on moments of parallel process between the leader-coach system
and the leader-organization system.
Participants will bring coaching dilemma
cases from their practice and engage in the task of problem-solving
and peer coaching around those cases. AT THE SAME TIME, participants
will notice, speak to, and explore in-the-moment interactions and
patterns that arise in their conversations in order to highlight
giving and receiving immediate feedback that is directly applicable
to those cases.
Topics:
Explore the challenges in managing oneself within
the interactional emotional force field of a client's system.
Increase capacity to maintain a balance
in providing both "backbone and heart" work with
the client -- both stating positions clearly and staying tuned
in to the client's goals and challenges.
Discover and use inquiry, advocacy, and
immediacy, recognizing the cues to shift as the need arises
with the client. Particular emphasis is on identifying moments
of immediacy, the "here-and-now"
conversations with the client which apply directly back to the
client's work situation.
Practice and increase one's tolerance for
withstanding the intensity of direct address" with
clients. Managing one's tendencies either to avoid or to push through
those learning moments.
Gain extensive
feedback on your feedback strengths, weaknesses, and developmental
goals.
