Purpose: An
orientation to the theory and concepts of executive coaching.
 Emphasizes the
importance of connecting business and people issues in
leadership coaching.
Topics:
-
Definition of executive
coaching as both organizational intervention
and leadership development, e.g., working
with leaders to align teams and streamline decision making to achieve
business results.
-
Capacities and skill requirements
of executive coaches.
- Distinctions among several coaching
methods - behind-the-scenes, "live action", one-on-one,
and group coaching.
- Systems-based coaching models,
e.g., seeing the patterns leaders co-create with their organizations
that promote or impede business results; resisting overfunctioning
for leaders; holding a neutral stance while bringing your own convictions
and talents to bear; assessing and mapping alignment issues; and attending
to the system co-created by you and your client.
